Robin Birds’ Nest

Posted by admin

The baby robins are about one week old. There are four of them and they are living about 5 ft away from my room. The father comes and slowly feeds the young when they open their mouth. Then the mother comes. It feeds the babies and since one baby is a little younger, it chokes on the worm. The mother pulls the worm out and when she puts the worm back in, the baby chokes on it again! Then she pulls the worm out and feeds the baby again, and finally the baby swallows it! When the mom finishes feeding, it sits on the nest to keep the babies warm.

Me and my owl :)

Posted by admin

Dear Animal lovers/ curious individuals

Hope you are all good and having a great week.
May I start buy saying 3 very important things…
If they are not legal wherever you are,
don’t persist in getting one because.
1- Its illegal for a reason, to keep safe future species.
2- One caught from the wild is hardly happy captive,
And will probably die of sadness
3- One caught from the wild will be wild,
Not docile like mine (captive born by many generations.)

It’s a barn owl, Called precious.
It’s around 4 months old,
and I got it when it was round 20/25 days old.
I call it:it, coz were not sure if it’s male or female.
I’m feeding it chicken chicks,
and I will eventually feed it mice too.
(No I don’t breed or catch the food
I simply buy them frozen)

In Malta (an island in Europe were I live at)
It is now legal to keep and/or breed barn owls.
So I got it buy buying it from a breeder.

It’s totally legal because:
Unfortunately there are no Maltese barn owls
left in the wild, They want us to adopt owls
and increase there population at least in captivity
So as not to loose the Maltese blood line.
Eventually there should be a program for re-introducing
Owls back in Malta’s wild life.
Using the chicks or gran-chicks :P
of captive born such as mine.

It is a great pet, but it seeks allot of attention.
So make sure you’re willing to spend lots
of time with it, if you’re thinking of getting one.

It’s mostly active early morning and evenings,
but it sleeps at night and takes naps during the day.
Oh and there are no problems between it
and my other animals at all! Never bit anyone either.
We let it fly round the house most times.
It gets depressed if we put he in the change.
So we got her a stand.
TV or radio is on where not around.
You can’t really potty train an owl.
But a wet cloth cleans it easy.

To me it worth all the trouble!! Love my Precious!

3 kisses, 2 hugs, 1 love

North American Wild Turkey

Posted by admin

A look at the North American wild turkey. The first group foraging are females, called hens. The second bunch of running birds are a group of males known as gobblers. You can tell the difference between the two by the “beards” on the males. A clump of long thin feathers hanging from the base of their throats. Turkeys are very elusive and secretive animals. They spend most of their time on the ground, but they can still fly pretty well!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
