Why won't my Zebra Finch birds eat fruit? ?

I've tried giving them apples and cherries but they just leave it and i end up having to take the fruit away because it goes rotten. What do i do?

despite what everyone else is saying that is not true you can feed finches fruits and veggies.
i have society finches which are very similar to zebra finches and what i did with them{ i only started this on sunday}
is that i gave them lettuce i don't know why but i think its a natural thing for them they just loved it { and this was the first time they ever ate vegtables and they are 1year old} so after they eat it for about 4 to 5 days then start to experiment with other green foods i gave them bell peepers { the green non spicy kind of course} they nibbled it and never liked it but that proved to me that i can start to get them to eat fruits if i wanted them to

why are birds not coming to my new "finch sock"?

    The fruit isnt good for them. Finches also have very small beaks, so they wouldnt be able to eat it. The Finch seed is really the only thing you can/should give a finch.

    You shouldnt give your finches just seeds, that's not good for them. If you have them on an all-seed diet they could get Egg Binding, but if you dont have female birds then this is not a problem. I feed my birds corn and fresh parsley, and they eat it right up.
